NOMINATION FOR ACHA AWARDS 2002 (Portland-Vancouver area)

 

Nominations are invited from Portland-Vancouver area for the following ACHA awards for the year 2002. Awards will be given at a public ceremony in early December.  The nominee and the nominator are required to be personally present at the Awards Ceremony.

 

ACHA Star

 

ACHA Star award is given to individuals, who have performed meritorious work in promotion of peace and communal harmony among South Asians and/or who have performed a valuable service for ACHA.

 

Make A Difference

 

Make A Difference award is given to individuals and organizations, who have made a difference for the better in their community.

 

Self-nominations are welcome. But each nomination must cover ALL the points listed below and must be submitted before October 5 by email to pritamr@open.org or by regular mail to ACHA, 4410 Verda Lane NE, Keizer, OR 97303. The details are given below.

 

1. Name, address, telephone number or email address of the nominee.

2. The award for which the person is being nominated.

3. Brief description of the nominee's education, work and other achievements.

4. The reasons why the nominee deserves the award.

5. Any other relevant information.

*September 28, Vancouver, B.C.: TAGORE AND THE CULTURAL HERITAGE OF INDIA - a festival of films on Tagore (by Satyajit Ray) as well as films of his fiction (Kabuliwala, Tin Kanya, Charu lata and Ghare Baire) a presentation of the Univeristy of British Columbia’s Centre for India and South Asia Research. The previous day a bronze bust of Rabindranath Tagore, a gift from the Government of India’s Ministry of Cultural Affairs will be installed on the UBC campus at 4:30 p.m.  behind the C. K. Choi Building. As part of the celebrations there will be a month-long exhibition of selected paintings by Tagore and photographs of his 1929 visit to Canada, beginning on 27.
